Research gold mine
I've been working to build up my documentation for an upcoming competition and have found my way to an amazing site. ATN/ATR Publications is The Archeological Textiles Review and they post their articles on line for free. Just skimming through the titles of some articles have me intrigued and there's a ton of people I want to tag who may be just as interested. Subjects from Viking drop spindles, loom weights, recreations of Roman garb and more are all catching my eye. In Review #60, Jane Malcolm-Davies wrote a fantastic article called Sticks, stones, fingers and bones: Nurturing knitting and the other neglected non-wovens. This article shows that I chose poorly with my choice of the funeral pillow for reconstruction as there are only 2 documented knit pillows that have been cataloged by museums.
