Research gold mine

I've been working to build up my documentation for an upcoming competition and have found my way to an amazing site.  ATN/ATR Publications is The Archeological Textiles Review and they post their articles on line for free.

Just skimming through the titles of some articles have me intrigued and there's a ton of people I want to tag who may be just as interested.  Subjects from Viking drop spindles, loom weights, recreations of Roman garb and more are all catching my eye.

In Review #60, Jane Malcolm-Davies wrote a fantastic article called Sticks, stones, fingers and bones: Nurturing knitting and the other neglected non-wovens.  This article shows that I chose poorly with my choice of the funeral pillow for reconstruction as there are only 2 documented knit pillows that have been cataloged by museums.  Both were found at the same monastery in Spain.  That being said, she did list a page and a half of her own bibliography that I'm hoping that I'll be able to work off of.

In addition to the information within this and other articles in the Review, I'm also appreciating the pictures.  There are close up views of pieces of knit fabric from all over the world with locations, dates and (sometimes) what was done to preserve them and allow for future study.

Now back to my documentation and trying to make it all cohesive.
