Is there such a thing as too much knitting?
I happily identify as a knitter, but I think I may be approaching burnout. My creative side has been focused on knitting for quite some time- the Spanish pillow, assorted gifts, etc but after I had to rip out a 5 inch section of a current project (300+ stitches per row) recently, I think I need a break.
My spinning wheel has been calling to me along with my drop spindles, especially as the weather cools off.
I have the Basque drop spindle I want to get a feel for, some blackwork projects that have been tickling my mind and I'm actually craving embroidery.
I purchased a book from Avleafolkembroidery.com (amazing shop) and want to try my hand at borders for some scrolls. As much as I wish I could do calligraphy and illumination, I have trouble drawing stick figures.
Maybe I'll also play around with different patterns and do a set of cup covers or handkerchiefs that I can give to the royals for gifts.
Just thinking of different ideas that will still allow for fiber creativity without picking up my needles again.
The Sun Laces that were discussed in a Pieceworks magazine article as a Spanish lace format sounds intriguing as well. I tried to do a little research on this but didn't come up with much. It may be more of a "build the handheld loom and try some experimental archeology" to recreate it.
